The Story of La Màquina del Temps
La Màquina del Temps is a cultural project from Andorra that seamlessly blends electronic music, circus arts, and historical heritage, creating immersive and innovative experiences in iconic locations across the country. Its first edition, initially presented as Electro Art, was held in museums like Thyssen and Farga Rossell, and was broadcast on New Year's Eve of 2020 and 2021 via RTVA, at a time when the pandemic had limited live events. The proposal was met with enthusiastic reception, successfully connecting with audiences from their homes, thus paving the way for future editions. Since then, the project has been broadcast annually in various museums across Andorra, establishing itself as a prominent artistic platform that explores Andorran heritage, featuring artists such as John Holt, Robznow, Richy Vuelcom, Patricia Mantovani, LDR, and Marc Montalvo.
Throughout its chapters, La Màquina del Temps has transformed Andorra’s historic sites and landscapes into dynamic stages for contemporary art, emphasizing their cultural value. Notable locations featured include the Sant Romà de les Bons Ensemble, the Roc del Quer viewpoint, and the Solar Clock of the d'Arcalís valey. Each location has been reinterpreted through a blend of music, dance, and visual performances, turning these sites into immersive experiences created in collaboration with Produccions Zulandir.
In February 2022, the first outdoor chapter was filmed at the Sant Romà de les Bons Ensemble, a site rich in history and symbolism, combining audiovisual technology, electronic music by John Holt & Kurt Heisz and circus arts performing with Zulandir
In June 2022, a new chapter was filmed at the Roc del Quer viewpoint, with support from the Comú de Canillo and the Ministry of Culture. DJs Gaston Zani, John Holt, and Richy Vuelcom crafted a unique audiovisual experience, blending music, fire, and modern dance against the backdrop of stunning panoramic views.
In 2023, La Màquina del Temps filmed its third chapter at the Reloj Solar de las Valls d'Arcalís, infusing a cosmic and futuristic dimension into the project. This edition featured international artist Fran DC, along with local DJs John Holt and Robznow.
Looking ahead to 2025, a new chapter is set to be filmed at the Tibetan Bridge of Canillo, one of Andorra’s most recent tourist attractions. This upcoming edition will be supported by the Comú de Canillo and the owners of Jumping.
The continued development of La Màquina del Temps is heavily reliant on cultural subsidies from Andorra, which play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and ambition of each chapter. Moving forward, the project aims to expand by incorporating new artistic disciplines and collaborating with both national and international artists, strengthening Andorra’s cultural legacy in the contemporary art scene.
